New laptop help?

OK, I was just wondering how much a good laptop would cost me, I really only need the following:

I am only a student so it doesn't need to be a brilliant laptop.

wireless internet

cd writer

windows home

3 usb ports

and be able to have the following software installed comfortably

Adobe photoshop elements 2.0

macromedia flash

WeBuilder

The SIms 2 and extension packs

itunes

microsoft visual c#

and maybe some other graphicy kinds of programs and computer programming and web design

I am only really going to be doing the following on it

web design

graphics design and creation (for web sites and a bit for other)

Itunes for my Ipod

Bits of computer programming (microsoft visual c#)

Web surfing

And some school or college related tasks (Word processing, spreadshhets etc.)

Also, I am only 13, so IF this were bought, it might have to last a while, which I wouldn't really mind about as the only things probably being added would be extensions. I would like a reliable make and model, also

New laptop help?
Flash and The Sims are going to be the things that stretch your laptops capability; all the other programs are pretty standard. If you want a bit of straight advice you're going to have to forget any games on a budget laptop. If you ditch the Sims you'll get a reasonable laptop that can manage Flash and Photoshop. Go for the Pentium 4 equivalent and 1 gig RAM and you can run all that comfortably.

I don't use one so can't suggest a good brand or spec.
Reply:You're looking at around £600 at the least, and try and get a wireless one, so you can surf in mcdonalds ( spits ).

If i had a second chance id go for a small laptop , maybe a 12" screen, the one ive got now 15.2" , is too big.

Just do a google for cheap wireless laptops .. then search for a review on it if you find one.
Reply:well i think you need a full package and a lot of software you may have to purchase separately or download but i got a laptop at Xmas for only £350 and i had probably spent £150 on software and that is only for home use so I'm afraid unless you know anyone who sells them or if you can find someone to sell a recon then its gonna be a few quid sorry to say

all the best luck sweetie

Should help you out.

Reply:Yes, the sites mentioned above are worth the look, indeed. But I would like to mention that since you have graphics processing planned, you should be sure to get a laptop that has a fairly good video solution, and you should also be sure to get more than 512 ram.

Laptops are available for under US500, but I question their ability to satisfy all your requirements. The general rule in buying computers has always been, "Get the biggest baddest one that you can afford."
Reply:i have a acer laptop. its fantastic
